We all know we have to maintain our bodies if we want to be healthy, right? We try to feed our bodies the right food and find the time for exercise. And we try not to overdo it with the booze and junk food. Counselling can do for the mind what a regular workout and healthy diet can do for the body.

What if we also agreed we need to maintain our minds for the sake of our wellbeing? What if we also made a point of nurturing ourselves, being more self-compassionate, more mindful of our inner critic, more flexible in our outlook?

And what if we made the time and space to treat wellbeing as a priority?

Counselling for wellbeing

If you’re having a hard time with any of the issues listed below, read on to see how I may be able to help you with your journey.

  • Stress & burnout
  • Anxious thoughts & feelings
  • Low mood & depressive feelings
  • Body image & weight management
  • Perfectionism & self-criticism
  • Difficulty asserting yourself & setting boundaries
  • Lacking the confidence and self-esteem to achieve what you want
  • Moving on from a loss or getting through a difficult life transition
  • Processing grief
  • Processing recent or past trauma

My aim is to walk with you through a portion of your journey. I’d love to help you learn the skills to manage your difficult thoughts and feelings, and take steps toward creating the life you want for yourself. Fortunately there’s no one right way of doing this. We work in collaboration to come up with a realistic plan that suits your personality, your problems, and your goals.

Motivating change

The scientific research on personal change has consistently informed us that the two most important factors in achieving change are your own motivation to make that change, and the therapeutic relationship you develop with the counsellor or coach you trust to help you. That’s why we’ll work at your pace, and we’ll only tackle changes when you feel ready. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable with the work we’ll do, confident that it will be effective, and that you are able to be honest with me about how you’re feeling.

There is no cure, because you’re not sick; and there is no fix, because you’re not broken. If you’re feeling stuck, and having difficulty moving forward towards what you want out of life, I can help you to get un-stuck.

I don’t have all the answers, I’m not a guru, and I’m certainly not infallible. I’m imperfect, just like you, and I’m stumbling and fumbling through the learning curve of my life’s journey too.

But from where I stand, with my outsider’s perspective, a wealth of life experience, and a few handy little skills I’ve picked up along the way, I can meet you where you’re at. Let’s see if we can get you moving toward where you want to be.

When you’re feeling ready, get in touch, and we’ll arrange a time to chat about what you need, and plan a pathway forward.
